Probability
Probability is the study of uncertainty in a statistical experiment.
Sample Space: The collection of all possible outcomes
Simple Event: One specific outcome in the sample space.
Example : Rolling a die. Rolling a 2 is a simple event (a possible outcome). The sample space would be rolling a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.
Event: Any collection of one or more possible outcomes.
S = Sample space is the set of all possible outcomes of a statistical experiment.
An event is any subset of the sample space.
To achieve an understanding of the laws of probability, it helps to have a concrete example in mind.
