Polynomial Functions
We have seen linear functions like f (x) = 2x – 1 and quadratic functions like g ( x )= x2 + 3x + 5. Linear and quadratic functions belong to a family of functions known as polynomial functions.
For polynomials in more than one variable, the degree of a term is the sum of the exponents of the variables in the term. The degree of the polynomial is the highest degree of its terms.
